The caper or otherwise caparis (Capparis spinosa) is a perennial plant of the Mediterranean and the Middle East, known for its edible flowering buds (buds) and its fruits.

It is a native thorny shrub with small shoots, which thrives mainly in rocky and arid lands.
The caper fruit is an important source of various vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, which has attracted the interest of the scientific community.

Secondary metabolites are chemical compounds produced by plants which, however, do not appear to be directly involved in their basic metabolic processes.

They are bioactive substances that exhibit antioxidant, antibacterial and fungicidal activity. Caper belongs to the category of spices,

it contains phytosterols, calcium, folic acid, beta carotene (vitamin A), phylloquinone (vitamin K), magnesium, potassium and enough sodium due to its processing.
Capers add a spicier flavor to salads such as the Cretan salad with tomato, feta and dakos,

flavor pasta sauces such as the Italian spaghetti alla putanesca, or even on its own as an accompaniment to your drink.
